Just a little about me
I'm Rob, an apprentice and degree trained mechanical engineer pivoting into full stack development, in my previous career I specialised the implementation of advanced manufacturing systems and processes, for the purpose of improving efficiency and quality across a few different segments.
After about 10 years in this niche I ended up applying that experience in a technical sales function for multiple blue chip OEMs, then spent time as business development manager for a global capital equipment manufacturer.
I'm sure there will be some curiosity around the reason for my career change. The honest reason is that after 16 years in the manufacturing industry, I've taken a leap to start over in a field that I find to be more interesting, rewarding and where my passions lie.
I'm sure that the grounding manufacturing has given me will make me a well rounded software engineer due to having a greater understanding of how the software being developed affects customers and end users.
Also, the skills learned across both fields should translate into the ability to apply both, in some interesting and unique personal projects.
